White House Correspondents' Dinner Yields Lame Leno, Funny Obama, Kim Kardashian and Justin Bieber Sighting

While President Barack Obama deals with rumors of an affair with Vera Baker, he got to take the night off from scandals, debates and politics in general at yesterday' White House Correspondents' Dinner.

The annual event brings celebrities together with politicians, as a comedian is chosen to host the evening and the President always takes the stage to poke fun at himself and his opponents.

President George W. Bush caused controversy in the past by actually making fun of the fact that he and his administration never found weapons of mass destruction in Iraq. We went to war for misguided, false reasons! Hilarious!

Last night, though, Obama kept his routine mostly safe, but altogether hilarious. First, he yanked MC Jay Leno's chain: "I'm glad that I'm speaking first because we've all seen what happens when somebody takes the timeslot after Leno's."

He then moved on to John McCain," who “recently claimed he had never identified himself as a maverick," said the President. "And we all know what happens in Arizona when you don't have ID.”

Leno, of course, was his typical lame, unfunny self. He delivered such gems as referring to Michelle Obama's anti-obesity campaign as "Leave no child with a bigger behind."

Spotted on the red carpet were such stars as Kim Kardashian and Justin Bieber (who posed together! yikes!), Jessica Simpson (who said she really admires Michelle Obama as "a powerful woman), Jessica Alba, the Jonas Brothers and more.

Quipped Bill Maher: "It's great to mingle with America's real intellectual heavyweights. I saw the Jonas Brothers, Justin Bieber, Jessica Simpson, Ryan Seacrest – I can't wait to talk politics."
