Usually, I hate this phase of competition shows but this show is the exception. So You Think You Can Dance has a wonderful way of showcasing the very best in people. Not that they don't have their share of people who shouldn't be seen in a leotard, but the vast majority of the show is made up of amazing performances. Take for instance the young woman whose spine has been compacted to only three vertebrae.
We all know she's not going to make the show, it would be a nightmare when it came to partner dancing, but she was given the air time and respect she deserved. Watching her dance, I thought how wonderful she'd be playing a fairy or an elf in a Broadway show. And then there were the two Mutation dancers that would be perfect in a musical horror movie. I really enjoy those performances and I'm glad the producers give them the time on stage.
It's a holiday weekend, so many of you will undoubtedly be hitting the road. If you're staying home or simply looking for a respite in your hotel room one night, here are a few top picks for tonight and the weekend.

You may have forgotten this show was still around but its back in a new timeslot. Tonight Meat Loaf has to sing for his supper. He'll be joined by his daughter as they try to win money for the Painted Turtle, a camp for seriously ill children.

Spooky Fun on Travel Channel
If you're a ghost hunter at heart, Travel Channel has the perfect line-up for you. First up is Most Terrifying Places in America, then it's two episodes of Ghost Adventures with visits to The Riddle House in Florida and the Sloss Furnaces factory in Alabama.
Primeval
Set your dial for BBC America this Saturday night for an encore performance of the third season opener and then a new episode at 9:00. Keeping with the ghostly theme, Cutter and the team investigate a murder at a haunted house only to find a camouflage creature that can blend into anything making it virtually invisible.

Diamonds
It's the most romantic stone known to man. But when the daughter of U.S. Senator Joan Cameron (Judy Davis) is killed in a massacre at an African diamond mine, a chain of events begins that uncovers the darkest secrets of some of the players in the international diamond trade. Diamonds is a four-hour movie event was filmed in South 
Diamonds begins on Sunday and ends Tuesday night on ABC.
News and notable
The CW announced their new fall season this week and it looks like they've got it all right this time.
Monday will stay the same with Gossip Girl and One Tree Hill -- minus Chad Michael Murray and Hillarie Burton.
Tuesday is flashback night with 90210 up first followed by a new Melrose Place. Several original series stars such as Laura Leighton and Thomas Calabro will return along with new faces such as Supernatural's Katie Cassidy, Ashlee Simspon-Wentz and Michael Rady.
Wednesday goes to the models. It starts with America’s Next Top Model then goes to The Beautiful Life, a drama about two young, naive souls trying to make it in the modeling world. I think I'm going to like this one.
Thursday has bite when Supernatural is paired with the new romantic horror series The Vampire Diaries. Two sets of brothers both dealing with the things that go bump in the night -- it's going to be killer.
Friday will be the new home for Smallville and that will be followed by an encore of Top Model making this the weakest night in the lineup.
The CW has canceled their sitcoms and they've given Sunday nights back to the local stations.
