5 Spring hair and beauty trends

Looking to kick your look up a notch this spring? Straight hair, center parts, bright pink nails, light pink lips and brown eye shadow are all on-season trends and here's the scoop:

Straight but not too straight:

No, the unnaturally straight flat-ironed locks of a few years past are not making a comeback. However straight-ish strands are here to stay. If you've got naturally straight hair, then you're in luck. If you've got wavy or curly hair, still lay off the flat iron and let your tresses keep just a tad of their natural shape when you blow dry it straight with a round brush. Need a visual? Bombshell actress Eva Mendes' everyday hair look exemplifies this straight but not too straight trend.

Center parts:

Symmetry is back this season in a big way with strong center parts. Think trendsetting beauty Sarah Jessica Parker's do at this year's Oscars: she complemented her flowing, fairy tale, "barely mint" gown with her large and luscious locks parted squarely down the middle. Models with center-parted hair strutted down many runways this most recent fashion week so it seems that the fashion gods are sending us little people a message.

Bright pink nails:

Get excited for the warm weather this spring with a bright, warm shade of pink on your nails. Think fuchsia, magenta or Barbie candy pink. These sprightly hues will add a fun pop of color to any look you rock this spring.

Light lips:

Lady Gaga has been rocking the lavender lips lately and while her shade may take it a bit far (hypothermia, anyone?), lips adorned with lighter shades are definitely in this spring. Light pink lips perfectly complement sun-kissed skin so give your face a healthy dusting of bronzer to make this trend work for you. These lip shades really give your whole makeup look a light and airy feel that is perfect for a walk on the beach… or just a stroll down the street. High School Musical star Vanessa Hudgens' super busy Marchesa dress at this year's Oscars had her nailed up to the worst dressed wall but her beauty look was right on—and her light pink lips really lit up her face.

Brown eye shadow:

Shades of brown eye shadow were all over models' faces at the most recent fashion week shows. While brown eye shadow has been a standard go-to makeup staple for pretty much all of time, what's different this season is that it's on trend to use it as a liner as well. This gives your overall eye makeup a softer look, particularly on the lower lash line.
