Spring is right around the corner and with it comes a big change in the fashion scene. The dark colors and heavy fabrics of winter are replaced with the brighter, lighter fashions of springtime. This spring bolster your wardrobe with some of the hottest fashion trends.
Ankle Crop pants
Get comfortable this spring in relaxed fit pants. You don't need to wear the billowy harem pants that were seen around many of the spring fashion runways.
However, comfortable fabrics and shapes are must-haves for springtime. Choose
relaxed pants that are easy to wear, fitting a bit loose through the hips. Whether tapered or wide-legged, they should finish just above the ankle.
High-waisted skirts
This is a trend that was seen on the runways of Spring 2009
Fashion Week that will carry over well into real life. Though high-waisted pants have been trend on and off for a while, this season we will see a lot more
high-waisted skirts and shorts.
Hot pink handbags
Pink is always a fun choice for spring and this year it will common in almost every shade from dark fuchsia to cotton-candy pink. Look for
pink handbags and totes in glossy pink patent leather for a girly-girl glamorous look.
Bold chunky jewelry
Statement jewelry will continue to be a hit for spring. Look for
colorful necklaces in bold, bright chunky beads, as well as jeweled cuff bracelets and large cocktail rings. Anything that's colorful and sparkles is sure to be a good choice this season. When wearing statement jewelry, don't over do it. Pick one piece and keep the rest of your accessories to minimum.
Snakeskin bags and shoes
Exotic skins are all the rage this season in both
handbags and shoes. Real skins, as well as snake-embossed leather are popular choices. From
snakeskin pumps to sandals and hobos to totes, skin is definitely in.
Ruffled dresses
This season everything will be a bit more feminine. Look for lots of ruffles in tops, handbags and especially dresses.
Asymmetrical, flowing dresses in one-shoulder designs or dresses with tiers of ruffles are perfect party attire. Ease yourself into the trend with a
rufffled dress that has ruffles just at the hemline or neckline.
Anything yellow
Spring is all about color and this season's trendy color is definitely
yellow. Pantone named Mimosa (the orange juice and champagne yellow) as the color of the year for 2009. However, any shade of yellow is a good bet. If you can't bear to wear bright yellow, look for more subtle shades such as mustard or chartreuse.
Mix and match prints
Don't be afraid to mix prints this season. Polka dots, stripes, abstracts and even florals can be worn together if done right. The key is for none of the prints to be too large. A tiny polka dot print top and a
striped trouser will work well together. You can also mix and match with your accessories.
