For now, the adorable pair will need to settle for an opening monologue shout-out.
During last night's ceremony, hosts Steve Martin and Alec Baldwon recognized Lautner and Efron in the crowd and joked that the latter duo would resemble the former pair in just five years.

Indeed, Rolling Stone released a few photos from its Lautner spread in October. Now, though, the publication has unleashed its cover shot of the Twilight Saga star and we have just two words for it:

With the New Moon opening behind us, fans of this movie franchise may need to wait a couple months for the PR machine to rev up again in anticipation of Eclipse in June 2010.

Now, the bad: he's wearing a shirt.
Still, the Twilight Saga star talks a lot about his workout routine inside the magazine, allowing fans to picture him shirtless and sweating. That's something at least, right?
Here are excerpts from his interview:
On getting bigger for Eclipse: "My character continues to grow, so I’d like to pack on at least a few more lean pounds.”
On taking time off from the gym: "If you constantly pound your muscles, they'll never have time to repair."
On cutting down cardio to build up bulk: “I was exercising so hard that I began to lose weight.”
Sorry, folks, no discussions here about Taylor Swift or their burgeoning relationship. Perhaps when he covers Men's Gossip, we can learn more about that aspect of Taylor's life.

Able to relate to Megan Fox, Olivia Wilde and countless other scantily-clad women, Lautner is often seen these days without a shirt on. That's what happens when you pack on 30 pounds to portray Jacob Black in New Moon.
But the actor told Us Weekly on Saturday night that he gets a bit self-conscious.
"It's actually quite uncomfortable knowing so many people are seeing that! It's a little bit embarrassing!"
Lautner said it took "a lot of hard work" to look this good, but it earned him a role in the Twilight sequel, following talk that he might get replaced.
