With these sage, powerful words, delivered via Twitter, queen Britney Spears has signaled her approval of the recent switch back to blonde hair she underwent.

She was seen sporting her new locks - as well as a possible engagement ring - having gone back to her roots (sort of literally) at a Beverly Hills salon Monday.

Jessica Galvan is stylist to some of the hottest celebrities today. Just a few weeks ago, all eyes were on Jessica's work when Amanda Bynes emerged from her salon with a new brunette look.

Jessica is also responsible for the cut, color and creation of Victoria Beckham's "Pob." Women young and old are mimicking Victoria's look.

Whether you have long hair like Amanda or short hair like Victoria, you can have super sexy hair. Jessica Galvan was kind enough to share with us some of the hottest ideas in hairstyles and haircare for the summer.

In haircuts, we are going to see asymmetrical bangs and necklines. If you are looking for new ways to wear you hair up this summer, Jessica Galvan recommends mixing braids in with your hair down like Lauren Conrad from "The Hills" or Jessica Simpson. You can do this with straight or curly hair. You can also mix braids with a pony tail.

Jessica offers another tip for wearing your hair up - tiaras or headbands. You can use these hair accessories with your hair down or with a ponytail.

"For something a little more sophisticated, set your hair in finger waves and then put it up, like Christina Aguilera, for a more 1920's look."

And always remember to protect your hair from the sun and chlorine. Wear a scarf or wear a protective spray with SPF. Redken has a great line of products to help combat UV damage (UV Rescue by Redken). These products will keep your hair safe if you want to wear it down when you are in the sun.

Don't shampoo daily. Overshampooing can strip your hair of its natural oils. If possible, shampoo your hair every other day.

Blot dry instead of blow dry. If you aren't in a hurry, avoid the blow dryer and blot dry you hair instead. Don't rub, which can cause damage.

5 Spring hair and beauty trends

Looking to kick your look up a notch this spring? Straight hair, center parts, bright pink nails, light pink lips and brown eye shadow are all on-season trends and here's the scoop:

Straight but not too straight:

No, the unnaturally straight flat-ironed locks of a few years past are not making a comeback. However straight-ish strands are here to stay. Hot spring hair trends

For curly or wavy hair, go short this spring in a messy, beachy style. Apply mouse throughout your hair and let air-dry. When almost dry, rub a little pomade to the top and pull upward to create a messy look.

Spring hair color

Go blonde! This spring and summer look for blondes to get even blonder. If you dare, go platinum! Blonde hair looks great in short, choppy hairdo's. If you don't have the nerve, add thin blonde highlights around your face frame to lighten up your look.

Red is definitely fresh for springtime as well. All shades of red from strawberry blonde to deep auburn are hot choices. If red feels a little risky for you, try it out with a temporary hair color first before taking the plunge.

If you want to stick with your brunette locks, go for warm browns and reddish-browns, rather than ash. Don't weight your hair down or dull the color with a lot of hair products. Instead, use a moisturizing shampoo and conditioner, along with a dab of hair serum to bring out the radiant shine.

Hair accessories are trendy and functional for springtime. They will pull your hair away from your face to keep you cool, plus they look cute too! Try these spring hair accessories.

Would You Sue a Salon for $50,000 if They Screwed Up Your Hair?

Time to play armchair jury, and have I got a doozy of a case for you. A woman in Oregon, who has been bleaching her hair for 25 years, is suing her salon for $50,000 because her hair started snapping off after her most recent bleaching session.

The woman, Sarah Jane Ward, blames an inept stylist and says she suffered humiliation, depression and had to pay for hair extensions. (She should have checked out this video on doing hair extensions at home, would have saved her some cash.)

The salon claims that Ward ignored a stylist's recommendations and damaged her hair with teasing and flat ironing (I wonder if she was using one of these flat irons?). They also say that since she didn't go bald or suffer a mental health crisis, they shouldn't be responsible.

While we can't give a verdict (we'll leave that up to the jury … and any of you who'd like to comment below), we can give some advice on keeping color-treated hair from turning into a disaster like this:

Avoid heat styling whenever you can and don't use scorching hot water in the shower.

When you do heat style, always use a product to protect hair (like one of these).

Stay out of the sun (or wear a hat when exposed to sun). And look for hair products that contain SPF and are formulated for color-treated hair.

Wash hair less -- it will keep hair from drying out and help color last longer. When you do shampoo, make sure it's with a quality product, like one of these. And always follow up with a good conditioner.


Leave a weekly deep conditioning treatment (these ones are fantastic) on strands for at least 15 minutes to allow it to reach down to your hair's cuticle.

Use a large-toothed comb in the shower while deep conditioning to distribute the product evenly through hair.
